There wasn’t much backing for Roy Keane taking over as Celtic manager on the back of last night’s story in The Sun.
It is more than 10 years since the Irishman stepped down as manager of Ipswich with just a couple of spells as an assistant added to his CV since then.
For a decade Keane was the most influential player in the EPL, driving Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United to a level of success that they have toiled to repeat.
Management is an entirely different discipline; Keane forced his personality onto a Sunderland side that went from nowhere to promotion to the EPL but after 100 eventful matches in charge he decided to resign.
It has to be said that there is nothing in The Sun story to suggest that Celtic have made an approach but with the job vacant it isn’t difficult to put two and two together.
Every appointment involves risk but putting Keane in charge of Celtic would be as big a risk as trusting John Barnes back in 1999.
Should Roy Keane be the next Celtic manager
Yes, exactly what we need
No, never. We need to get serious
A playing name, a personality will create interest and headlines but after experiencing progress under Brendan Rodgers Celtic fans want another tried and tested appointment to get the club back on track.

@CelticFC If this goes ahead it shows how out of touch you are with the fan base and the modern game in general.

I want to win the lottery but no much chance of that happening, hopefully the same odds as Keane getting the job!

Not for me J. What a player and actually enjoy him as a pundit but Rebuild needs a new approach from top to bottom. Think we need a long term plan and European progress is an absolute must. Keane might win a league or two but we need a new structure.

I personally think he could be good manager, he seems 2 have calm down alot of late and working wth Martin oneill could have been good 4 him, could be the type of manager we need at moment but not many other celtic fans will be happy wth this but this is only my opinion ???
