Odsonne Edouard was on the scoresheet for France tonight as they beat Russia 2-0 in the finals of the u-21 European Championships.
After losing their opening match 1-0 to Denmark a win was essential with the French now going into the final group match on Wednesday against Iceland looking for a win to progress forward to the quarter-finals in May with the remainder of the competition a knock-out.
Denmark are in top place with full points from their opening two matches with France and Russia in second spot with three points while Iceland are at the foot of the group following two defeats.
Edouard showed one of his trademark turns in the 14th minute forcing a defender in to chopping him down. After dusting himself down he scored from the penalty spot.
