Davie Provan has portrayed a brutal summary of the state of Celtic.

The former winger won’t win many popularity contests at his old club but no-one inside the club will be able to lay a finger on his criticisms.

In The Sun, Provan writes:

WHAT is going on at Celtic? Neil Lennon has gone, Peter Lawwell is going, Scott Brown is tipped for a role under Stephen Glass at Aberdeen.

Around a dozen players will leave this summer and a new sporting director needs hired before new supremo Dominic McKay arrives. Meanwhile, we haven’t heard a word from Dermot Desmond or chairman Ian Bankier. Good luck with season- ticket sales.

Season-Ticket sales bring in a regular £25-30m for Celtic, topped up  by commercial income, UEFA prize money and transfer fees.

Twelve months ago the club had already launched their campaign to get fans to renew Season Tickets but this year things look to be much more challenging on a number of fronts.

A name or personality managerial appointment similar to Brendan Rodgers would go a long way towards getting 50,000 renewals but with no guarantees about fans returning to the stadium next season that sort of number looks highly unlikely.

This season’s Executive failures will also take some explaining, even the exits of Lennon and Lawwell doesn’t provide answers with a managerial review announced at the start of December appearing to have little substance to it.
