Even Steven Gerrard has admitted that his side should have had two penalties awarded against then last night at St Johnstone.

The Ibrox boss had watched his side craftily navigate through 34 SPFL Premiership matches without losing a penalty or having a player sent off.

Soon after taking the lead away to St Johnstone Scott Wright decided to handle in the penalty box. Instinctively, maybe it was the blue shirts making the claim, Euan Anderson pointed to the penalty spot.

As Liam Craig prepared his penalty assistant referee Frank Connor realised the seriousness of the situation, alerted Anderson that it was St Johnstone wearing blue and the penalty decision was overturned.

We’ve got no complains in terms of the result, it’s shame we didn’t see the game out because I think we made some poor decisions in the final moments of the game.

All-in-all we take the point and move on, it was a penalty and we’re probably lucky not to concede another. I think probably our goalkeeper has been a little bit busier than theirs so we’ve got no complaints.
