Celtic have been forced to backtrack and delete a tweet about their Community Partner BPO.
The club’s Social Media output has come in for increased criticism this season with a lack of content as birthdays and anniversaries are pumped out on a regular basis.
BPO is a Debt Recovery Agency and however that industry wishes to dress itself up and rebrand it isn’t really a natural partner for a club that is forever pushing and promoting it’s charitable roots and Foundation.
Yesterday David Turnbull and Jonjoe Kenny were promoting the latest Foundation fund-raiser, on the back of that a tweet celebrating Celtic’s first trophy win in 1892 came with a soft introduction to BPO which didn’t go down well with fans.
John Paul Taylor, Celtic’s Supporters Liaison Officer was quickly informed of the ‘adverse’ reaction with the tweet being withdrawn.
In the digital age however the damage is done, the reaction is out there alongside screengrabs with the appeal of ‘a club like no other’ badly in need of rebranding and connection with its fans rather than customers.
Tbh, I think this is ad space which is sold by an independent company Kieran
