Celtic in the running to solve problem position

Celtic have been credited with an interest in Viljami Sinisalo.

The teenage goalkeeper was on loan at Ayr United last season from Aston Villa and is entering the final year of his Villa Park deal. Ironically Ross Doohan spent the two previous seasons on loan at Ayr but after spending part of last season at Ross County he was recalled following Celtic’s training trip to Dubai.

Goalkeeping looks like being one of the priority positions for Celtic to address but with three keepers having first team experience at the club it is hard to see Sinisalo coming in as first choice for Ange Postecoglou.

The Daily Record reports:

Former Ayr United goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo has been linked with a sensational move to European giants Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old Finn, who spent last year on loan at Somerset Park from Aston Villa, is also reportedly on the radar of new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglu.

Sinisalo made 29 appearances during his loan stint north of the Border last season, keeping seven clean sheets in the Championship but was forced to return south four games early due to a groin strain.

Scott Bain, Vasilis Barkas and Conor Hazard all had spells as first choice last season but none of them turned in the high quality performances that Fraser Foster delivered the previous season.

With a Champions League qualifier one month away Postecoglou will have to make some quick decisions with the new manager expected at Lennoxtown this week.
