The leading sports reporters at the Daily Record have given the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as Celtic manager their approval.

After two weeks of speculation the Australian was announced as the new Celtic boss although his arrival is still unknown. Pre-season training gets underway at Lennoxtown on Thursday.

Since the announcement there has been a swing of support behind Postecoglou from Celtic fans although many are still dubious of the recent track record of decisions from the club.

The former Yokohama Marinos boss faces a massive task overhauling the first team squad with serious questions being asked about the infrastructure of the club with recruitment concerns particularly strong.

Asked about their first impressions of Postecoglou the Record team replied:

KEITH JACKSON: He’s certainly up for the fight and – with so much work to do – he’s going to have to be. It does seem like an unnecessarily big risk at a time when Celtic really need to hit the ground running. One thing is certain, the next few months will be fascinating.

CRAIG SWAN: Straight talking and knowledgeable about Celtic. But the proof will be in the performing.

GORDON PARKS: Positive. Some hugely respected figures have given the Aussie their seal of approval. He appears to be just the man for a crisis.

MICHAEL GANNON: He said all the right things and he might have won over some of the doubters. There will be tougher questions to come though on and off the pitch.

Do you think Ange Postecoglou will win the 21/22 SPFL Premiership title?

Other than the announcement of a new manager after a wait of 106 days very little has come out of Celtic.

There has been no mention of Postecoglou’s assistants or how the club intends replacing Nick Hammond who left as Head of Football Operations at the end of March.
