Jim White has announced a very abrupt departure from Sky Sports News.
The neutral fan from Kelvinside has been at the centre of the station for the best part of 20 years, turning himself into a personality with his Transfer Deadline Day coverage and trademark yellow tie.
White broke into broadcasting in the eighties as the face of sport on STV, jumping fully on board the Souness Revolution to the extent that he took Mark Walters to an evening of festivities at an Orange Lodge.
Over the last few years he has taken on the mid-morning show on TalkSPORT, while every other presenter is comfortable admitting to the club they support White has always been in denial about his Ibrox affections.
In February 2012 he was almost in tears as news broke that the old Rangers club had been put into administration.
Over the last decade he has been loyal to a variety of Ibrox regimes, getting a jolly out to South Africa to marvel at the wine collection of Mr King but exceeding that with a bedside vigil to Founding Father Charles Green.
