Celtic fans have had 10 days to get their head around the likely appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.
Some of the initial hostility has died down with the gradual realisation that this is more than a media guessing game with the Yokohama Marinos boss looking increasingly likely to replace Neil Lennon.
Bringing in his own coaching staff is something that Lennon was denied with many fans looking for Postecoglou to make his own appointments to demonstrate that he is his own man.
With Postecoglou’s only European experience coming 13 years ago in the Greek Third Division there are very few obvious candidates to join him in reshaping Celtic. Outside of Europe the issue of the UEFA Pro Licence again becomes an issue.
On Friday The Scotsman linked Kevin Muscat with a role at Celtic with this followed up today by SEN Radio.
Muscat is a red flag for many Celtic fans following his season at Ibrox in 2002/03 during which he picked up £1m off the books through the EBT/disguised remuneration scheme operated by Dave Murray.
As a player Muscat could generously be described as a journeyman who often found himself in disciplinary trouble while in England.
The 47-year-old was born and brought up in England but qualified to play for Australia through his parents. Since retiring his coaching career has largely been spent in the A-League with the exception of 14 matches in Belgium in charge of Sint Truiden. It ended sharply.
Muscat won’t win any popularity contest among Celtic fans, if appointed he’ll need to hit the ground running alongside Postecolglou.
Appointing Kevin Muscat as Celtic number two is absolutely baffling and someone should at least explain why it’s a bad idea. We all want Ange to be a success and get his choice of back room staff but there are limits.
It really wouldn’t be the greatest of openers.

It wouldn’t be a surprise though, that’s the sad thing, since October last year there has been a concerted effort by some to lower standards and expectations to a ridiculously low level.

He’s awful. Melbourne Victory played negative football and Muscat spendt every game abusing the 4th official. Big no no @CelticFC

Finding it quite nuts that people would rather Muscat over Kennedy, considering their backgrounds. Not saying Kennedy should be first or second choice, but come on? Muscat?

Think that *by and large*, the people who’d be annoyed by this are likely to be against Postecoglou anyway.

will fit well with the ongoing trolling of fans by the PLC board

I’m fine with it. Not as if it’s Barry Ferguson

Kevin Muscat CSC, I’m on board. He played about 6 games 20 years ago. It’s not like we’re getting Bob Malcolm in as kit man. He turned it down cos he’s got ice cream van driving commitments.

On the EBT basis alone Kevin Muscat must NOT be offered a role at Celtic.
Else @CelticFC must realise the backlash will be massive, and there’s been too much friction already. @ascom @thecelticstar @celticrumours @Pmacgiollabhain @HarryBradyCU @rangerstaxcase https://t.co/wff81fivBK
