For more than a decade he has been the face of Celtic but today Scott Brown appeared looking very different.
Nine consecutive SPFL titles were lifted, 12 consecutive domestic trophies were raised into the air by the Fifer but never again will he be wearing the green and white in competitive action.
Since the turn of the year there has been a long slow good-bye, accelerated over the last six weeks with a number of last appearances, no more Celtic Park and a final appearance at Hibs.
There has been plenty of media interviews, reflections, time to take stock of the achievements over the 14 years but today it was there. Broonie in red, an Aberdeen player, soon to be an opponent, probably booed at Celtic Park as he clatters into a tackle and emerges with a smile of innocence.
Next season’s Celtic team looks like it will be unrecognisable from the one that finished the 2020/21 season but one opponent will be very familiar when the new term gets underway.
? Brown is red.
