After his first competitive match as Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has already detected an important media trait.

Inside Celtic Park around 9,000 fans seemed pleasantly surprised by what they watched as their side drew 1-1 with Midtjylland in a Champions League qualifier.

Nir Bitton and Vasilis Barkas provided the negative points but almost everything else about the performance was pleasing on the eye. After a year of online misery watching stale, predictable football and inevitable errors most fans headed home in better spirits than when they arrived.

Dane Murray got 46 minutes of football, Stephen Welsh played like a time-served veteran and the midfield functioned again led by Callum McGregor.

In the media room however things were a little different, the Daily Record reports Postecoglou saying:

I’m getting a lot of glass half empty questions at the moment. I think there was plenty of positives tonight rather than people looking for little things that potentially didn’t go right.

The new Celtic boss now has a week to put together a plan to bring victory in Denmark, a task that is far from beyond this Celtic side with James Forrest likely to be in contention for the return leg.
