Celtic are recruiting for a First Team Recruitment Analyst with applications to be in by the end of July.

As Ange Postecoglou and others have discovered recruitment seems a slow moving business at Celtic.

Since the Australian was appointed as manager last month Osaze Urhoghide is the only player to have joined the club with less than two weeks to go until Celtic face Midtjylland in a Champions League qualifier.

Last season Vasilis Barkas had replaced Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon when Celtic faced Ferencvaros with Albian Ajeti on the bench as the Hungarian champions won at Celtic Park.

Signing players now involves working on a variety of fronts with Training Ground Guru describing the job of First Team Recruitment Analyst as:

Reporting to Head of Scouting Operations, Celtic Football Club is currently recruiting for a First Team Recruitment Analyst to be an integral part of the Scouting team. The position holder will be at the forefront of player identification at both senior and youth level, by maximising the resources available at the Club and ensuring that findings are aligned with the Club’s transfer strategy. They will use modern technologies to identify and process players targeted by the Club. This is an exciting and dynamic role which will allow the individual to divide their focus across Scouting, Data Analysis and creation of documentation on potential targets.

With Peter Lawwell and Nick Hammond no longer at Celtic the issue of recruitment remains something of a mystery.

Dom McKay spoke of using Ange Postecoglou’s international knowledge but the new boss has plenty to assess in the first team before he can expand his remit into recruitment.
