Odsonne Edouard has hinted at the resumption of a once lethal strike partnership with Leigh Griffiths.

Over the last three years the Frenchman has virtually been a one man strike force for Celtic with options like Vakoun Bayo, Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti failing to make much impact.

From the January break in 2020 through to Lockdown there was a different dimension to Celtic when Griffiths returned to the side as Neil Lennon’s mem knocked off 28 points from 10 matches to clinch 9-in-a-row.

What happened last season will go down as one of life’s great mysteries but Griffiths and Edouard could be back in business today when Celtic open their pre-season programme against Sheffield Wednesday.

This time last week it looked like time up for Griffiths when his contract expired but at noon on July 1 Celtic announced that a 12 month deal had been agreed.

As his Instagram picture illustrates the old ways may be back but how long Edouard remains a Celt remains unanswered.
