Celtic fans gave a mixed reaction to news that Kevin Nisbet is a £4m transfer target.
The Hibs striker has stepped up in each of the last three seasons to return impressive goal hauls for Raith Rovers, Dunfermline and Hibs.
A £4m transfer fee would represent a fantastic profit for Hibs with Dunfermline in line for a nice bonus through a sell on clause.
The price tag seems on the high side but Celtic have paid similar fees for Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti with very little return. In Nisbet’s favour he knows the Scottish scene, given game time he should be able to improve on last season’s total of 18 goals topped off by one for Scotland in a friendly against the Netherlands.
Next season’s Celtic striking options are completely unknown. Odsonne Edouard is back in training but likely to leave, Vakoun Bayo is wanted by Toulouse, Leigh Griffiths has been given another year while Ajeti has a nightmare debut season to recover from.
McGowan has a good trach record on Celtic transfer business, Nisbet looks a likely signing target but with European football less than three weeks away some hard negotiating will be required.
Limited game time but looked very lightweight when he came on for Scotland in Euros. Doubt he could do much damage for anyone beyond his current level

I’ve always said that we need two types of player, we need a solid squad of players who have proved they can cut it at SPFL level, which Nisbet can, but we also need a couple of big marquee signings in each position to push us forward in Europe. Hopefully that’s still to come.

Another “eyeing” on top of some other “interested ” and “monitoring ” i wonder whats the chances celtic will actually make a move for him? People saying £4mil is nuts considering his age and potential profit to be made plus his goals last season id say its fair on hibs part.

This another one Ange is happy to take that “the club have been monitoring for a while” alongside the Sheff Wed guy. Hoping Ange has more up his sleeve than our supposed scouting department.
