Celtic fans gave a mixed reaction to news that Kevin Nisbet is a £4m transfer target.

The Hibs striker has stepped up in each of the last three seasons to return impressive goal hauls for Raith Rovers, Dunfermline and Hibs.

A £4m transfer fee would represent a fantastic profit for Hibs with Dunfermline in line for a nice bonus through a sell on clause.

The price tag seems on the high side but Celtic have paid similar fees for Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti with very little return. In Nisbet’s favour he knows the Scottish scene, given game time he should be able to improve on last season’s total of 18 goals topped off by one for Scotland in a friendly against the Netherlands.

Next season’s Celtic striking options are completely unknown. Odsonne Edouard is back in training but likely to leave, Vakoun Bayo is wanted by Toulouse, Leigh Griffiths has been given another year while Ajeti has a nightmare debut season to recover from.

McGowan has a good trach record on Celtic transfer business, Nisbet looks a likely signing target but with European football less than three weeks away some hard negotiating will be required.
