Stephen McGowan has added a goalkeeper to his Celtic transfer check-list.

So far Ange Postecoglou has brought in just three players with two wingers and a centre-half hardly revolutionising the Celtic squad.

More than four days on from the Champions League exit to Midtjylland there has been no additions to the Celtic squad with less than a month to go until the transfer window is closed.

Over the years McGowan has been closed than most to Celtic’s transfer plans, in the Daily Mail he reports:

Speaking after a 2-1 defeat to Hearts on Saturday night – their first opening day defeat in the league for 24 years – manager Ange Postecoglou admitted he hopes to land new players in the coming week.

Celtic face Czech side Jablonec in the third qualifying round of the Europa League, then Dundee in the SPFL Premiership on Saturday.

In the market for a keeper, right-back, central midfielder and winger, Tottenham’s former England keeper Joe Hart is a target, while a move for Royal Antwerp right-back Aurelio Buta looks less likely.

Vasilis Barkas was in goals for Celtic’s first leg tie against Midtjylland but was ditched for Scott Bain in the return match and for the SPFL opener away to Hearts. Last week in a similar list McGowan made no mention of Celtic needing a goalkeeper.

Hart has been strongly linked with Celtic over the last 10 days but since 2016 his career has been in a swift decline, currently he is third choice keeper at Spurs. Conor Hazard is the other keeper on Celtic’s books.
