A tweet from Kenny McKay about racism at Ibrox today has gone viral with two very different takes from the home support.
Kaiyne Woolery equalised for Motherwell in the 66th minute with McKay claiming that the racist reaction around him forced him to make an early exit from Ibrox.
Over the last 18 months, coming from England a more hardline policy has been adopted where incidents are called out with the culprits identified and punished.
Earlier this year there was a storm at Ibrox over an alleged racist comment aimed at Glen Kamara which saw the home club come out strongly against racism and taking a four day break from social media over comments about their players..
McKay played for Queens Park and Annan, in season 2013/14 he scored 14 goals in 34 matches but seems to have dropped out of senior football at the start of the 2015/16 season. His Flip The Mindset podcast covers a wide range of mental health and addiction issues, last August he did interview John Hartson about his battles with cancer and a gambling addiction.
Had to leave Ibrox 71 minutes in as when the boy woolery scored the racist abuse from some people around me was getting to much.
It’s a minority I know but it’s every single time.
Heartbreaking tbh.
All I want to do is enjoy the fcking game.
Still love my club.?— Flip The Mindset Podcast (@FlipTheMindset) September 19, 2021
You need to let everyone know where you were sitting, making a claim like this without backing it up is nonsense, I’ve been going for 20 years and sat in different stands and never heard racism, back it up or shut up.

We need to tackle these issues and not just resort to “what about this…” sectarianism and racism are prevalent within the stadium and it needs fans to report it and condemn

This is awful to read mate, and I’m sorry that you experienced this. I hope the fans shouting the horrendous abuse are reprimanded and never attend a football match again ? #EveryoneAnyone

Encouraging that the Rangers fans calling the OP a liar are very much in the minority. I think the thousands of decent Rangers fans may have had enough of the troublemakers. Might start to see more of them calling it out.

The same day where we proclaim we stand shoulder to shoulder with Kamara.
Racism cannot be a point scoring exercise. You cannot be anti racist some of the time.
I’m sorry you had to deal with this man.— John McDougall (@MrMcDiddle) September 19, 2021
Horrible reading that. There is clearly an element of our support still dragging their knuckles.

Classic from JJ
They are fond of myths in Govan. They would have us believe that they were celebrating securing their 55th title. Why not their one thousand six hundred and ninetieth title or their one thousand eight hundred and seventy-second title? If one is prepared to pluck 55 from thin are why not give the Orange Order recidivists an arbitrary number to cheer?
What’s truly shocking is that a person of colour actually CHOOSES to support a klub, institution and a way of life that HATES people like him. Sorry pal, you’re feeding a hand that slaps you, and you brought it on yourself, you like with dogs you get fleas. Guilty by association.
