With the benefit of the only SPFL Premiership match being shown live on television over the weekend it was the perfect opportunity to emphasise their recently discovered opposition to racism.

All through the week clubs had been building up to a weekend where the Show Racism The Red Card message was at the forefront.

On Saturday almost 60,000 fans noticed the red badge on the front of the Celtic jersey as they beat St Johnstone 2-0. Every media picture from the match carried the message, it was unavoidable.

Against St Mirren, Sevco had the ideal opportunity to take the message to a massive audience. Their opponents added the Show Racism The Red Card logo to their shirt, for reasons that perhaps kit-man Jimmy Bell can explain there was no message on the cherished Castore shirt of the visitors.

Since around 9.30pm on March 18 the Ibrox club has been at the forefront of the fight against racism. During a home defeat from Slavia Prague their passive approach flipped into full-on activist status.

Managing Director Stewart Robertson hammered home the message as a 2-0 home defeat from Slavia was brushed as were red cards for Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe.

Seven months later in Paisley it seems that the commitment against racism has virtually been forgotten.
