The Daily Record has put together an £89m shopping list for Steven Gerrard to splash out in January.

With change left over for £100m the new Aston Villa boss can be reunited with the bulk of his old Ibrox squad and wipe out the debt worries that he left behind last Sunday.

During three and a half years in charge at Ibrox the maximum fee that Gerrard brought in was the £1.8m that Wigan splashed out for Josh Windass. No one bought by Gerrard was sold for a fee.

Eros Grezda and Kyle Lafferty were bought and quickly disposed of while projects like Brandon Barker, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart and Max Hastie clogged up the wage bill. George Edmondson arrived for an undisclosed fee from Oldham and left in the same manner for Ipswich.

Alfredo Morelos £12m

Glen Kamara £15m

Nathan Patterson £10m

Joe Aribo £12m

Connor Goldson £2m

Ryan Kent £20m

Ianis Hagi £18m

Even the Ibrox auditors would reject those valuations as they prepare to sign things off to show that all is hunky dory for another year.

With losses announced last week of £23.5m any of those fees would bring about high-fiving in the Ibrox boardroom as they attempt to fund losses of £2m per month.

Gerrard and his coaching staff probably cost around £350,000 a month but it’ll take some incredible effort to turn the club around to break-even as Managing Director Stewart Robertson promised fans last month.

Newcastle United supporter Ciaran Kelly’s article in ChronicleLive 26 July 21:

“Souness took on a hands-on role in the deal and the former Rangers manager already had a longstanding relationship with Sir David Murray, who was the Gers’ chairman at the time, having previously signed Tugay, Barry Ferguson and Lorenzo Amoruso from his former club when he was in charge of Blackburn.

While Newcastle, tellingly, had a free run at Boumsong, who only joined Rangers on a Bosman a few months previously, Souness trusted his own judgement….”

“Little did Woods know that the trip to Glasgow would prove his final scouting mission under Sir Bobby.

“On my way back, I thought I’d better ring Bobby,” Charlie Woods [scout] told ChronicleLive. “He said, ‘What did you think?’ I said, ‘Bobby, they’re not for us. I think there will be a problem for us if we sign these two’.

“I went to the ground and we both pulled up at the same time. He went upstairs after he got the call to see Freddy. When he came down, he said, ‘Charlie, I’ve lost my job.’

“Sir Bobby and Woodgate were replaced by Graeme Souness and Boumsong respectively in what felt a blink of an eye.”

It’s been reported that Gerrard was so quick out the door he never took the time for goodbye’s with his Galacticos….thankfully I don’t read the Record fantasy wishful thinking.

See the newspaper getting like the old Sport, unimaginable headlines and blowing things out of proportion,,,,Kent for 7million ain’t even a £5million player at the moment,, if they could demand these fees, Gerrard would have been kept and players sold to balance the books, seem yous have Villa buying out the Rangers team,,,pathetic or desperate
