Frankie Deane’s goal for Celtic B against BSC at Airdrie yesterday was well celebrated by his family.

The central midfielder collected a pass from Josh Corr, advanced towards the 18-yard box then fired in a low shot that was too much for Jamie Smith in the BSC goal.

Deane certainly enjoyed the goal, racing off to celebrate with his team-mates eventually joining up with him.

Last season was virtually a write-off for players like Deane, after years of extensive coaching and training they were largely left to their own devices with the club remotely keeping tabs on their progress.

In the summer Celtic were accepted into the Lowland League which presented a massive challenge for a youthful squad. Celtic B are restricted to using players under the age of 20 but the bulk of Tommy McIntyre’s side are under 18.

There have been a few sore results recently, twice losing last minute goals to Spartans but after being pegged back to 2-2 by BSC the hoops scored twice in the last fifteen minutes to record a win. Joey Dawson, Ben Summers and Lewis Dobbie were the other scorers.
