A week after a disappointing 2-2 home draw against Cumbernauld Colts, Celtic’s B team crossed the border to beat Berwick Rangers 2-0 in the Lowland League.

It has been an up and down season from Tommy McIntyre’s side, with Bosun Lawal suspended Brody Paterson moved in to join Dane Murray in central defence with Adam Brooks returning up front allowing Rocco Vata and Owen Moffat to switch to the wings.

Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 at the start of August, by half-time today they had matched that scoreline with McKenzie Carse and Moffat on the scoresheet.

It was Moffat that opened the scoring in the 19th minute, taking advantage of the Berwick keeper parrying a free kick to put Celtic in front.

In the 33rd minute Carse showed good awareness to shoot home after the ball had broken his way inside the penalty box.

The home side had the better of the second half but were unable to make any impact on the hoops defence with Tobi Oluwayemi, who was on the bench against Ferencvaros on Thursday, in good form when called upon.

CELTIC: Oluwayemi; Luyeye, Murray, Paterson, Anderson (Corr 80); Murphy, Carse (Letsosa 83), Vata, Wylie, Moffat; Brooks (Dawson 76)

SUBS: Mullen, Kelly
