The Green Brigade have announced plans for a double celebration to Bertie Auld at Hampden on Saturday.

At the weekend Celtic announced that their legendary midfielder had passed away, sparking a wave of tributes as pictures, videos and stories were shared about a remarkable life.

The modern Celtic effectively started at Hampden in April 1965 when two goals from Auld and a towering header from Billy McNeill gave the hoops their first trophy in seven years- and sparked the most successful period in the club’s history.

In 1969 Auld scored the only goal of the game to beat St Johnstone, Saturday’s opponents 1-0 to lift the League Cup. Later in the same season Auld was in his pomp as he bossed Billy Bremner and Johny Giles as Celtic beat the highly acclaimed Leeds United side in front of well over 130,000 fans at Hampden.

On Saturday the Celtic players will all wear number 10 on their shorts in honour of Bertie.
