Ange Postecoglou has very definite plans in place for the January transfer window.

New faces aren’t likely to debut in the January 2 Glasgow derby but when the Scottish Cup opens on January 22 the hoops boss hopes that he has fresh faces familiar with their new team-mates.

Celtic will sidestep Dubai for an alternative warm weather training centre as they enjoy two blank weekends to recharge the batteries for a serious assault on the SPFL title.

Only eight of Postecoglou’s summer signings have completed 90 minutes this season, with certain areas of the squad in need of strengthening work is already underway with an obvious focus on the J-League which is about to close the curtain on the 2021 season.

There will be plenty of names before January. We are working towards then and we know what we need. We want to make sure we are well organised long before then, so we are going to identify targets and we will be talking to quite a few.

But we are not negotiating or got close to signing anyone at the moment. There will be plenty of people putting their name forward because I think this is an attractive destination at the moment. We are just focused on being organised in January

James McCarthy and Liam Scales have still to complete a full match this season while Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide have yet to get on the park.

Portugal has been suggested for a winter training camp but in Europe the Canary Isles are the only area guaranteed January sunshine.
