Celtic are reported to have cooled their interest in Danny Mandroiu.

The 23-year-old was one of the driving forces as Shamrock Rovers won the LOI with reports from Ireland earlier this month claiming that his form was attracting interest from Celtic.

During the summer Celtic signed Liam Scales from the Dublin side but after three brief appearances it is difficult to see how the defender can play his way into Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Outfield players over the age of 20 have no outlet to play at Celtic other than in the first team with the Daily Record playing down the chances of Scales being joined by Mandroiu.

Celtic have also been looking at Shamrock Rovers attacker Danny Mandroiu but Irish sources believe that deal is unlikely to happen in January.

After signing 12 players during the summer, including Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide who have yet to play any competitive football it is likely that Postecoglou will be focussing attention during January on players ready to go straight into the first team.

Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda have both been strongly linked with moves to Celtic with Postecoglou hoping to repeat the success of Kyogo Furuhashi who was his only summer signing from the J-League.
