Two more honest mistakes from Nick Walsh

All seemed well in the world as Steven Gerrard’s side turned in a performance an inch away from perfect against Motherwell according to the Sevco boss.

If only the same could be said for referee Nick Walsh. A week earlier he watched Chris Kane kick out twice at a grounded Cameron Carter-Vickers then put his hand in the face of the Celtic defender as he got back to his feet. Yellow card to both players according to the PE teacher.

No such leniency was shown to Stephen O’Donnell on Sunday, midway through the second half he was  back in the home dressing room after picking up two yellows.

Down to 10 men Motherwell lost three goals in the last 15 minutes as Gerrard’s men made some inroads into their goal difference deficit to Celtic. Trophies are often won by small margins.

The incidents above may have been detected by Walsh on another day, at Motherwell in midweek Bobby Madden noticed that Liam Kelly was off his goal-line for a penalty that was re-taken, the same referee missed the same offence by Livingston’s Max Stryjek three days later.

In his last four matches involving Steven Gerrard’s side Walsh has sent off O’Donnell, Ryan Porteous and Callum McGregor, against Aberdeen in May Stephen Glass’ squad managed to avoid a Walsh red card.

During the week Walsh is a PE teacher at Boclair Academy in Bearsden, attended by Sevco starlets thanks to the partnership with Murray Park.
