Late on Wednesday night Stan Collymore confirmed the news that had been leaking out all day.
It’s done, was all that the former Villa striker had to say as the EPL circus prepared to descend on Villa Park for a break from the boredom of international football.
Since quitting Liverpool for LA Galaxy in 2015 Steven Gerrard’s star has been on the decline with new heroes emerging across English football. Winning one trophy in nine during a freak season never made an impression on supporters or a media more interested in the on-going soaps involving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Harry Kane, Pep and Klopp.
Gerrard is now B list at best, as he returns to the EPL the Demba Ba song will welcome him at every stadium. Outside of media circles and Anfield there isn’t much respect or admiration for the former England midfielder.
There was no great clamour from Villa fans to sack Dean Smith, he was one of their own and not using their club as a stepping stone for Liverpool.
Brighton, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Leicester City and Liverpool are next up for Villa- it certainly isn’t St Mirren, Motherwell and Ross County.
It’s done.#UTV

This aged like milk.
On a hot day
In the Valley of Death
In a thick mug
On a turned on radiator
And the aircon is busted.
And the windows glued. pic.twitter.com/vcH52BZrxt— Giuseppe Wept (@JesusWept19) November 10, 2021

Very short sighted decision IMO. Gerrard will be lucky to keep that job for 12 months. He should stay at Rangers, enjoy some success, and continue to learn the trade of managing. Cannae believe he’s gone 1/2 way through the season too.

Sacked Sunday, deal done Wednesday. Too quick, proves a tentative deal was on the back burner already. Wonder who else they (Purslow) interviewed ?would be good to know

Are you under the impression that we have a say in the appointment?
And, what, you want us to start booing him at the next game?

The debt rangers are in must be much bigger than we being told , no wonder he is leaving mid season they are desperate for £3m compensation as none of their players worth that.
