With their one hour of scrutiny out of the way for another year Chris Sutton and others are left largely in the dark about Celtic’s plans and ambitions.

Shareholders had a multitude of questions and issues to grill the board over with Ian Bankier given a torrid time as he tried to gloss over repeated failures.

Over his decade as Chairman Bankier has yet to see Celtic win a knock-out tie in European competition, as one shareholder pointed out the last knock-out win was in spring 2004 when Peter Lawwell was settling into the CEO gig.

There weren’t many answers from the board, there was no mention of Neil Lennon, Dubai, Dom McKay or Gordon Strachan’s three month review.

Reflecting on the club AGM, in the Daily Record Sutton asks:

The big questions remained either unasked or unanswered. What the heck happened with Dominic McKay and the bright new vision he promised? Is Michael Nicolson the long-term chief executive? What’s happening with the director of football role and the recruitment side of the club?

At Thursday’s media conference Ange Postecoglou made it very clear that there won’t be a Director of Football appointment with the hoops boss and Michael Nicholson hands-on with recruitment.

That would also suggest that the acting CEO is in place for the long-term, on Monday Nicholson will be in place for Day 73, a landmark that Dom McKay never managed to reach.

Postecoglou seems to be ahead of the curve in his plans for the January transfer window but deals still have to be completed.

When the Australian joined Celtic in the summer the only additions to the squad that he had to work with in pre-season training were Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide.

By the time of the first competitive match, against Midtjylland Liel Abada had been added to the squad with the Israeli scoring on his debut against the Danes.

Celtic have repeatedly failed to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, the charge sheet now runs at six failures out of eight.
