Ange Postecoglou is ready to rotate for Thursday’s Europa League tie at home to Real Betis.

Despite nothing being at stake in terms of qualification close to 60,000 fans will be in place as Celtic head into a critical series of matches.

Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi would seem in most need of a night off with Cameron Carter-Vickers missing out on the back of his booking against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Daily Record reports Postecoglou saying:

As we saw with the last game, whether it’s injuries or being able to rotate, I need players who have game time under their belts. Thursday is a great opportunity for some of the guys who haven’t played much recently to get 90 minutes in.

We’ve still got eight games between now and the break – including the Premier Sports Cup Final – so we want everyone up and running.

Tony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and Jota missed the win at Tannadice with the two defenders expected to be back in contention to play this week.

Within 10 days of the Betis match Celtic face Motherwell at home, Ross County away and a League Cup Final against Hibs at Hampden. That sort of schedule remains in place through to the Glasgow derby on January 2.

Postecoglou will speak to the media again tomorrow with updates on the timescale for Chris Jullien and Giorgos Giakoumakis expected to be mentioned.
