Two Ibrox fans were arrested as soon as their flight into Lyon touched down on French soil.

The passengers were on an Easyjet flight from Belfast yesterday, heading to the French city to share good humour and charm before cheering on Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side in Europa League action.

On Monday afternoon the French Government banned visiting fans from attending the match only to perform a u-turn less than 24 hours later- after hundreds of Ibrox fans had cancelled their trips and put in claims on their insurance.

An Easyjet spokesperson told Belfast Live:

We can confirm that police met flight EZY6735 from Belfast to Lyon today on arrival and arrested two passengers who were behaving disruptively onboard.

Our cabin and ground crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour towards our staff.  The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always our highest priority.
