Sky Sports are reporting that Celtic have agreed a deal with Yokohama Marinos to sign Daizen Maeda on loan.
Reports last night from Japan claimed that the deal had moved forward with the striker linked with an Ange Postecoglou reunion for the last few months.
There has been no comment from Celtic about a possible deal but as the exclusive broadcast partner it seems logical that Sky would have contact inside the club before running their story.
Often a story can be guarded with ‘Sky Sports understands’ but that is missing from the Maeda report which is presented as factual.
Celtic have reached an agreement in principle to sign Yokohama F Marinos striker Daizen Maeda on an initial loan deal.
The move would reunite last season’s joint-top scorer in the J-League with Ange Postecoglou. Excited by the deal, Celtic fans??

Sky Sports reports:
Celtic have reached an agreement in principle to sign Japan striker Daizen Maeda on an initial loan deal. The move would see the 24-year-old join in January with the Parkhead club then having the option of making the deal permanent in the summer.
Maeda scored 23 goals in 36 matches for Yokohama in the 2021 J-League and is under contract until January 2024.
It seems strange that such an asset is going out on loan for half of the 2022 J-League season but it seems that Celtic and Yokohama were able to come to an agreement for Postecoglou to leave in mid-season.
With Celtic’s current injury problems there seems to be every chance that Maeda could be involved in the next match, at home to Hibs on January 17.
About time we are keeping our cards close to our chest, keep everyone guessing.
