Celtic have been linked with a move for Hannes Wolf of RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old midfielder has struggled for game time at Borussia Monchengladbach and is also attracting interest from Turkey for a January loan.

Wolf cost Leipzig £11m when he moved from RB Salzburg in the summer of 2019 but despite the links between the two clubs he has struggled to make much of an impact in Germany. This summer he moved on to Gladbach for £9m but has quickly dropped out of the first team with just seven appearances this season.

Leading on news about Matthias Ginter of Gladbach, Bundesliga News reports:

According to Bild, Ginter is far from the only Gladbach player heading for the exit door at Borussia-Park, with Keanan Bennetts, Hannes Wolf, Marcus Thuram, Denis Zakaria, Alassane Pléa and Laszlo Benes looking likely to leave as well.

Bennetts and Wolf are no longer part of Gladbach coach Adi Hütter’s plans, per the German tabloid, who claims the latter has attracted interest from Trabzonspor, Celtic and Rapid Wien.

Celtic have also been linked with Reo Hatake who seems to play in a similar position but the report from Bild suggests that the hoops are looking across Europe for signings as well as in the J-League.

With David Turnbull reported to be out injured until well into February Celtic are running short of midfield options with James McCarthy and Liam Shaw featuring in the last two matches.
