There was only one topic that Sky Sports wanted Ange Postecoglou to discuss after Celtic’s 1-0 win over Hearts.

This season the Celtic boss has barely been asked any questions about refereeing decisions but last night was different.

When Bobby Madden awarded 27 free kicks against a dominant Celtic at Pittodrie in October the Celtic boss wasn’t quizzed about his side’s poor discipline. When Stephen Welsh had to be substituted at Hampden after getting an elbow in the jaw nothing was made of it.

In the first SPFL game of the season you’d be hard pushed to find a reference to the Celtic ‘goal’ wrongly flagged for offside.

Last night however Sky Sports and BBC Scotland couldn’t let it go over the marginal offside call that Kyogo Furuhashi scored from. The rarely used pundit Christophe Berra said that it was too close to call, Kris Boyd, expectedly, thought differently.

Postecoglou could tell that the interviewer only had thoughts for one moment in the 95 minutes.

It’s a goal, mate. I mean I… it’s a weekly…I’ll let it go, mate. I’ll let our performances speak for themselves. If people think that the referee decided this game, well, that is their analysis.

Sky Sports will be back with Celtic on Sunday for the away match at Dundee United.

Boyd needs to be removed from sky. Thought Stillian and Berra bit their lip with his attitude. I think if boyd slapped Stillians leg one more time there would’ve been trouble. Lol

I see the BBC website has joined in the Tim-bashing, with a special article on “it was tight but was it offside?” with regards to Kyogo’s goal last night. Funnily enough, the decision to chalk off the “goal” scored by a very clearly onside Abada at Tynecastle, which would probably have been the winner had is stood, didn’t merit the same attention from them at the start if the season.

Nor did the assault on McGregor that should have resulted in Hearts being reduced to 10 men in that game. I don’t recall Neilson bumping his gums about those decisions at the time either – certainly not in the way he has been whining about “the decisions” last night. Which, by the way Robbie, did NOT cost your side the game last night.

What lost you that game last night was that your side was outplayed by a dominant Celtic team that, with a shade more luck and slightly better finishing, should have had the points wrapped up far more easily. As Ange himself might phrase it, in his own great put down style, “Your keeper kept you in it, mate.”

Celtic don’t ban them as some of the Celtic board are probably in the masons as well.

        What do you mean probably?
Bankier is not even a football fan.
His Company had a hospitality box at DeadCo for years.
Any Scottish businessman who reaches Director / Chairman level is a stick on to be a Mason.
It’s how the Commercial / Financial Sector of the Establishment works in the ‘ best wee bigoted Country in the world’.

After Ange’s first 6 months in this place, I bet he can’t believe what a sad little country this is. Even the Cetic board are happy to be part of the “old firm” parochial nonsense.
His brand of football is great to watch but nobody told him there would be 10 men defending when Celtic play home and away.

  • Jack says:
