Alan Burrows expects a decision today from the SPFL on whether or not to bring forward the winter break.

The Motherwell CEO took part in Zoom calls last night with his club and three others going public with their call for the SPFL to bring their break forward by 10 days.

Three rounds of fixtures are scheduled to be played in front of crowds of just 500 which would require thousands to be paid out in refunds as well as ballots being held to decide which Season Ticket holders can attend.

Dundee United and St Mirren have already had their squads badly impacted by positive tests and self-isolating with costly daily PCR testing now in place at all Premiership clubs.

I think for all our sakes, we need a decision today. All indications are we will get that.

Bear in mind, if we are going to play these games all clubs are going to have to ballot supporters really quickly about who wants to attend and go through the administration process to get those tickets to people.

That’s not something that happens in minutes. Hopefully it’s the sooner the better.

In terms of how the discussions went [last night] they were extremely positive, really respectful and I think that’s to the credit of all involved.
