Mystery over Hibs bid for extra Cup Final tickets

Hibs have demanded/requested more tickets for the League Cup Final with just over a fortnight to go before their Hampden clash with Celtic.

Soon after the finalists were known the SPFL announced that Celtic supporters would fill the entire North Stand with the remainder of the stadium split between the two sets of fans. Each having an end behind a goal with the South Stand split.

Celtic have already balloted Season Ticket holders for tickets but the Edinburgh club seem to think that there may still be tickets to be allocated.

Yesterday, 18 days before the match, Hibs stated:

We can confirm that we’ve sold out our full Premier Sports Cup Final ticket allocation.

We received in the region of 17,500 tickets for the game at Hampden Park, which will take place on Sunday 19 December and kick-off at 15:00.

Knowing that we would sell out our full ticket allocation, we have constantly been engaged with the SPFL to gain more tickets. We think it’s of paramount importance that we receive a greater allocation for our supporters, and for sporting integrity.

We are putting increased pressure on the SPFL and will update supporters as soon as we hear more. In the meantime, hospitality packages for the game are still available.

We do not have enough tickets for all STH who meet this criteria, tickets have been balloted amongst eligible STH.

There may be some hospitality packages that could be offered to Hibs fans but it would be a surprise if there are any other options.

At the 2017/18 finals against Motherwell tickets for the West Stand were sold from the South Stand outwards with Celtic being allocated additional tickets from the North Stand side while maintaining segregation.

With over 50,000 Season Ticket holders and an allocation of between 30-35,000 tickets given to Celtic it is difficult to see where Hibs could get any more tickets from.
