It was a big talking point among watching supporters, even more so after Crawford Allan had broken his annual leave to make an appearance on BBC Scotland’s Sportsound show on Saturday afternoon.

A marginal offside call with no conclusive proof either way had sent Scottish football into near meltdown.

Led by Kris Boyd it seemed that every pundit had had their say, according to the former Kilmarnock ace it was a stone-wall offside, if such a phrase exists.

At Tannadice yesterday there was a very clear mistake from Don Robertson. He watched Callum Butcher follow straight through, with his full body weight onto David Turnbull’s lower leg.

It was as horrendous a decision by Robertson as it was by Butcher, quite easily Turnbull could have had a serious leg break with his season over.

Mainstream news tends to take its lead from social media, Turnbull and Butcher were trending on Twitter but none of the reporters at Tannadice dared to even ask how Turnbull was let alone get a comment from Ange Postecoglou on the assault on his player.

It seems that a collective decision has been taken not to discuss refereeing issues harmful to Celtic.

On the opening day of the season nothing was said about the decision to disallow a ‘goal’ from Liel Abada that was clearly onside with the 18 yard line helping the assistant to make a decision, unfortunately in this case the wrong decision.

At Hampden last month Stephen Welsh had to be substituted after Shaun Rooney planted his elbow into the defender’s jaw. Referee Nick Walsh issued a yellow card with no after-match questions asked.
