A new image has shown just how close David Turnbull came to serious injury at Tannadice yesterday.

Taking the ball forward on the left wing the midfielder felt the full body-weight of Callum Butcher come crashing through his lower leg, as the picture shows the impact looks horrific.

With his leg bent at the knee the Dundee United man was able to get added impact as he cleaned out his opponent.

Don Robertson and his assistant David Roome both had clear uninterrupted views of the incident. How they come up with an outcome of yellow card really needs explaining.

An offside call, right or wrong, doesn’t put the career of any player at risk, yesterday there was a serious risk to the leg of Turnbull.

Subconsciously every player in Scotland will have noted what happened, it seems that it is almost impossible to get a straight red card in this country meaning that further challenges like Butcher’s are more likely.

This kind of assault outside on the street would be a crime by law, and punishable by law, yet our players have to suffer this on a pitch in front of thousands of witnesses week in and week out and the HUN refs turn a blind eye, it’s shamefull, no doubt the ref would have been down the Masons hall rolling up his trouser leg and shirt sleeve giving dodgy hand shakes all night. It makes me cringe.

It’s a sad day when if the fans can this horrendous tackle that could have ended David’s career, surely the sfa should take action as they surely will have seen this horrendous piece of thuggery, if nothing is done about it by the corrupt shower that run football in Scotland then Celtic must surely ask why they have not acted.
