Ewan Henderson is reported to be in talks with Hibs over signing a three and a half year contract.

The midfielder has only made one appearance, coming off the bench to score against Real Betis, and is out of contract at the end of this season.

Shaun Maloney worked with Henderson for a year with the Celtic Reserve and Youth squad and appears keen to make his first signing as Hibs boss.

On Monday night Football Scotland reported:

Hibs are set to sign Celtic’s Ewan Henderson on a three-and-a-half year deal, Football Scotland understands.

Shaun Maloney had been credited with an interest in the Hoops youngster in recent days, and now looks like getting his man.

It’s understood the 21-year-old was at the Hibees’ East Mains training ground today and is close to signing on until the summer of 2025. And if things progress quickly enough, the deal could be announced as soon as tomorrow.

Henderson made his Celtic debut in May 2018 under Brendan Rodgers and signed a new contract shortly before the Irishman left for Leicester City.

Under Neil Lennon his first team opportunities reduced dramatically before being sent out on loan to Ross County at the end of August 2019 then being brought back to Celtic in the January window.

Last March he went out on loan to Dunfermline as their season was falling apart to highlight Celtic’s haphazard approach to sending players out on loan.

It is unlikely that Hibs will pay much in way of a transfer fee for Celtic but a substantial sell-on clause seems likely.
