Ange Postecoglou has finally came out and criticised a Scottish referee.

Early on in his Celtic reign the new boss made it clear that he’d be steering clear of refereeing matters, leaving that side of the game to the authorities.

On Saturday away to Alloa Yosuke Guchi was on the receiving end of a brutal challenge from Mouhamed Niang that referee Don Robertson has a clear view of.

Having just earlier let off Conor Sammon for a brutal attack on Stephen Welsh, Robertson decided that the foul on Ideguchi was worth a booking.

Pundits at the match and fans watching on television saw the full extent of the damage as Niang followed through at full pace to badly damage Ideguchi’s ankle.

Last month Robertson had been similarly lenient when Calum Butcher attacked David Turnbull with the SFA upgrading the yellow card to red with the defender given a three match suspension.

Asked about the Ideguchi incident tonight, Postecoglou told Celtic TV:

He’s not great. I said after the game it didn’t look too serious but to be fair I didn’t really get a good look at him.

It was a terrible tackle and one which should have been addressed by the referee on the day. He hasn’t come out of it too well and will be missing for a little bit as well. He’s still pretty painful now. The kind of character he is, for him to stay down and come off I knew it was significant.

I was optimistic it wasn’t too bad but as everyone can see from the footage it was a tackle that shouldn’t have happened and should have been addressed on the day.

Robertson will be at Ibrox on Wednesday for the visit of Livingston, John Beaton will referee Celtic’s match against Hearts.

Giorgios Giakoumakis, who scored Celtic’s first goal on Saturday described Alloa’s play as too dangerous.

Ange MUST get this sorted, ASAP.
    Let try this analogy…
Imagine Bankier has got himself a new car, it’s parked in the Celtic car park for All to see.
Then imagine someone vandalising said vehicle on a match day.
Bankier would be right on the blower tae the feds, Yes? ….
Of course he would. So you tell me, are Turnbull, Kyogo, McGregor, Guchi, etc etc NOT as valuable as Bankier brief??
Of course they’re worth a damn sight MORE than any vehicle , Yes?
So please explain to me why Celtic aren’t BATTERING the sfa’s door down?
I must be missing something or maybe I’m not…
Celtic FFS do as they do across the Clyde … complain about everything.

GET AFF YIR ARSES AND PROTECT THE VERY PEOPLE WHO EARN YOU QUARTERLY DIVIDENDS AND PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT

IT IS OPEN SEASON ON OUR PLAYERS AND THIS NEEDS ADDRESSING RIGHT FQN NOW… ACTION, NOT WORDS.

    • Peter McNamara says:

For years referees let diabolical tackles on Celtic players go unpunished. Well it’s time to hold the person on the field in charge responsible for letting these tackles happen. They wear the FIFA badge on their chest, then Celtic need to complain to FIFA and skip the Dog and Pony show that call themselves the S.F.A. They forget it was Celtic that kept the SPFL premier league going when Rangers were demoted to the lower divisions for cheating the taxman.

      • John O’Brien says:

Good morning Peter, Rangers were not ever demoted. They ceased to exist and a new club was admitted into the lowest tier of Scottish football. Please don’t engage with the false narrative of relegation/demotion/put down the leagues, it never happened. They died and have been replaced by a new, sickening entity called Sevco 5088/Sevco Scotland/ ‘THE’ Rangers.
‘THE’ clearly added to distinguish the new club from the old one, but conveniently dropped to pretend continuity.

  • Justshatered says:

    Ange should have said
“I feel sorry for the referee although not as sorry as I feel for my injured players. I meant the referee has not been in the right position to see the tackle, in the same way he wasn’t in the correct position to see the tackle on Turnbull which resulted in a retrospective red card. He also wasn’t in position to see Carter Vickers assaulted. So yes I feel sorry for him that his positioning is an issue.”

In that way he isn’t criticising the official but making it known that the referee’s performance has been noted.

    • Larsson 7 says:

It’s a health and safety issue, the employer must look after the health of his or her health.
The worst analysis of this the leg festers the person becomes I’ll and dies.
But that is what we’re looking at here, the shit has hit the fan, will it take something like that for the powers that be in Hampden to do something about these assaults because that is what it boils down to.,will that bring Maxwell out of his hideout in Hampden,if he’s guilty of neglect!!!!!!!

  • Stephen says:

Not for Ange to complain its up to our old firm loving Tory board.

  • Jim Duffy says:

You can bet Robertson will be quick to red card any Livingston players that show any aggressive tendencies.

  • Stephen says:

Don’t blame the referees blame the old firm loving celtic board.
One-day some player will loss their career and take them to court.
I don’t beleive this shit their working behind the scenes it’s getting worse ffs.
