Celtic are reported to have opened talks with Spurs about making Cameron Carter-Vickers a permanent signing.

The defender arrived on loan in the final hour of the summer transfer window and has played in all but two of Celtic’s fixtures since.

Carter-Vickers has been at Spurs since 2015 but has yet to make an appearance in the EPL in-between loan stints with Celtic his eighth club.

Ultimately any permanent deal will be down to the players but the Daily Record reports:

Talks have commenced with Tottenham Hotspur regarding on-loan Carter-Vickers following a strong start to life at Celtic Park.

The club have begun negotiations with the Premier League outfit over a quick-fire deal for the American centre-back.

Celtic have an option to buy the 24-year-old as part of the initial summer loan agreement. It is believed that figure is around £6 million and with significant add ons that could take the deal significantly up.

A Spurs source has confirmed that talks have now kicked off and there could be room for movement in the deal, in terms of the fee, the period it is paid up in and future add-ons.

Like most players Carter-Vickers has batted aside media questions about making his move permanent, concentrating on current issues after his last minute move at the end of August.

Under Daniel Levy Spurs are known as very tough negotiators when it comes to transfers but it seems that there is an emphasis on add-ons in any potential deal, if Carter-Vickers finds himself in demand from the EPL in a year or two it could suit all parties.
