Giovanni van Bronckhorst is singing the praise of John Lundstram a week after leaving him on the bench for the drubbing from Celtic.

The former Sheffield United ace has looked like a fish out of water since his move to Ibrox in the summer.

With Steve Davis, Scott Arfield, Connor Goldson and Allan McGregor out of contract in May the arrival of Lundstram on a rumoured £45,000 a week deal isn’t likely to have done much for morale in the dressing room.

For two months Lundstrum barely got a look in under his new non-Scouse boss but after wins over Hearts and Hibs it seems like van Bronckhorst has discovered a world-beater.

The Sun reports the Ibrox boss saying:

John Lundstram has done really well. I am happy for him because it is not easy to not be playing.

Every player wants to play, but the response he had, and the performance he had in the last two games, for me that is what you want if you put a player in to perform.

The competition is really hard at the moment because we have got many players available now, not only in midfield but up front. That is good for me. But we have to continue and everyone who is in the team, the 11 who start, they must be ready

Following tomorrow’s match at Annan, Lundstrum is expected to be challenging Ryan Jack as a Balon d’Or contender and pushing hard for a place in the England squad.
