Putting together a highlights show for six matches to be shown 90 minutes after the final whistle isn’t an easy task, which is even more reason to ensure that you get the basics right.
With Sky Sports taking one of their frequent breaks from showing the league that they have exclusive rights to many fans had to rely on BBC Sportscene for a look at the midweek matches.
Going by their content it looks like Celtic landed lucky again- a week after snatching the points in the Glasgow derby after being outplayed for all but the first 25 minutes of the match.
A goal scored by Jota provided the main talking points for the Sportscene team which seems to be drawn from Steven Tommo Thompson’s contact book and Kenny Macintyre’s autograph and selfie collection.
Rangers are my team, never hidden that. Be strange to have someone working on Sportsound that didn’t support a team.
As for Kris Boyd. I know at times he is a wind up merchant, but he talks up our game. Would he be in the Sky studio tonight if he wasn’t such a big personality?

Focussing on a genuine goal while scratching around to find an offside or infringement seemed to be the task for Tommo and the hipsters, strangely Aberdeen’s first goal escaped scrutiny after Willie Collum decided to take play back for a foul then watched Scott Brown wrestle Carl Starfelt to the ground as Christian Ramirez brought the Dons back into the match.
Had Collum spotted that and disallowed the goal Celtic may have enjoyed a more comfortable victory. Had John Beaton spotted a clear handball rather than Liel Abada’s overhead kick at Motherwell Celtic goal difference advantage might be more substantial.
At least the Brown/Starfelt incident made it onto the show, when Calvin Bassey rugby tackled Ryan Porteous to the deck it failed to make the editorial cut as the state broadcaster tried to pick highlights out of the 2-0 home win over Hibs.
Fortunately that incident has been highlighted and shared by those pesky internet bampots, the ones that you don’t need a licence to access.
Sportscene: let’s over analyse Celtic 3rd goal
Sportscene also: let’s not even show Celtics other 3rd goal that was chopped off
Sportscene: let’s over analyse The Rangers penalty
Sportscene also: let’s not show Hibs clear penalty claim.

But what they will hate is the famous glasgow Celtic are top of the league still when many thought we would drop points

It’s the worst.

Sportscene. Not fit for purpose.

They can’t hide their bias. If they freeze framed a millisecond later, Abada is onside and also standing in an area between McCrorie and Jota does not constitute a ‘block’.

For those of you who never saw it because for some obscure reason @BBCSportscene did Not include it in their highlights of the match. Give @mstewart_23 his due, at least he commented had the guts to comment on the Jota offside, he is the only one with any integrity on that show. https://t.co/TkuCBl8OrG

And don’t bother showing why Aberdeen got free kick for first goal

They didn’t show the other two penalty claims we had. (one of which was as blatant as the first) they didn’t show hibs penalty claim as it was a free kick to rangers because porteous pulled bassey to the ground. Celtic disallowed goal was because jota pushed Ramsey, so foul.

But but it wasn’t off-side given the pics. Sally mccoist as usual should have a look at his own teams decisions before criticising ours pic.twitter.com/1e9SmFsef9

The line they drew was almost as thick as Kris Boyd.

C former Aberdeen Captain Willie Miller comments on 3rd goal , he says Abada stands still Bates runs into him Jotas goal stands
I thought Aberdeen defender pushed Abada on towards Jota so was that another penalty ???
Thankfully every single Celtic fan (even the young team now) see the SMSM as remarkable comedy value….
It is entertaining how far this industry is prepared to go to try and influence the harmony of our club and it’s fans, prior to the meteoric rise with (excellent call out) sites such as this they would have been successful in their agenda….
NOT NOW THOUGH…..
HH
A couple of months ago Sportscene misleadingly edited footage so as to support the commentators’ point of view. It’s not just the presenters who want us to see their angle.
