Putting together a highlights show for six matches to be shown 90 minutes after the final whistle isn’t an easy task, which is even more reason to ensure that you get the basics right.

With Sky Sports taking one of their frequent breaks from showing the league that they have exclusive rights to many fans had to rely on BBC Sportscene for a look at the midweek matches.

Going by their content it looks like Celtic landed lucky again- a week after snatching the points in the Glasgow derby after being outplayed for all but the first 25 minutes of the match.

A goal scored by Jota provided the main talking points for the Sportscene team which seems to be drawn from Steven Tommo Thompson’s contact book and Kenny Macintyre’s autograph and selfie collection.

Focussing on a genuine goal while scratching around to find an offside or infringement seemed to be the task for Tommo and the hipsters, strangely Aberdeen’s first goal escaped scrutiny after Willie Collum decided to take play back for a foul then watched Scott Brown wrestle Carl Starfelt to the ground as Christian Ramirez brought the Dons back into the match.

Had Collum spotted that and disallowed the goal Celtic may have enjoyed a more comfortable victory. Had John Beaton spotted a clear handball rather than Liel Abada’s overhead kick at Motherwell Celtic goal difference advantage might be more substantial.

At least the Brown/Starfelt incident made it onto the show, when Calvin Bassey rugby tackled Ryan Porteous to the deck it failed to make the editorial cut as the state broadcaster tried to pick highlights out of the 2-0 home win over Hibs.

Fortunately that incident has been highlighted and shared by those pesky internet bampots, the ones that you don’t need a licence to access.

Thankfully every single Celtic fan (even the young team now) see the SMSM as remarkable comedy value….

It is entertaining how far this industry is prepared to go to try and influence the harmony of our club and it’s fans, prior to the meteoric rise with (excellent call out) sites such as this they would have been successful in their agenda….

    NOT NOW THOUGH…..

A couple of months ago Sportscene misleadingly edited footage so as to support the commentators’ point of view. It’s not just the presenters who want us to see their angle.
