Boli Bolingoli has joined Russian side Ufa- but only on loan till the end of the Russian season.

The wing-back was one of the disastrous signings of 2019 sanctioned by Peter Lawwell that also brought Marian Shved, Vakoun Bayo, Manny Perez and Hatem Abd Elhamed to Scotland.

While the others have quietly slipped out the door Bolingoli remains under contract until May 2022 with no club prepared to pay a fee or match the wages of his Celtic deal. At the end of his Ufa loan the Belgian will become a free agent.

Although he was left out of Ange Postecoglou’s Europa League squad the 26-year-old started the SPFL matches at Livingston and Motherwell as the new Celtic boss got to know the squad that he had inherited.

The main European transfer markets closed on January 31 but this afternoon the Ufa website announced:

FC Ufa and Scottish Celtic have agreed to lease left winger Boli Bolingoli Mbombo. The lease agreement is calculated until the end of this season.

The Russian season resumes on February 27 with Ufa currently sitting in second bottom position with 18 of the 30 league fixtures played.
