He signed for Celtic on December 31, just 33 days later Reo Hatate is being celebrated worldwide in song.

In the very early hours of Thursday morning, Japanese time, the midfielder was earning the gratitude of the Celtic support as he scored twice to send the hoops in at half-time leading 2-0 in the Glasgow derby.

During last season Celtic scored just twice in the fixture, a header from Moi Elyounoussi earned a draw to prevent a whitewash. In the first derby of last season Neil Lennon’s side failed to get a shot on target.

There were other more trivial records that Hatate encroached on, despite his long glorious career Kris Boyd managed just one goal in the Glasgow derby, which was one more than he scored against the hoops for Kilmarnock.

Making his way back from international duty was Alfredo Morelos, into his fifth season at Ibrox he too has got two career goals against Celtic.

Hatate seems unfazed by the impact that he is creating, in years to come he’ll be given the red carpet treatment and forever thanked for his contribution on a memorable February evening.

With the transformation at Celtic park with the lights and disco sounds would’nt it be proper for the DJ to have the song HE’S MY JAPANESE BHOY ready to be played when one of our Japanese players score.obviously with a spare back up as it might get worn out!!!!.
