Karamoko Dembele played his first competitive football of the season as Celtic’s B team beat Vale of Leithen 4-0 in the Lowland League.

The winger suffered a serious injury in a pre-season friendly against Bristol City that required surgery denying him the chance to impress Ange Postecoglou.

Karamoko was spotted in first team training following the winter break but after a long lay off there has been no rush to get him back playing.

With the Lowland League open to any outfield player under the age of 20 it has provided the perfect platform with the soon-to-be 19-year-old playing the full 90 minutes on the Airdrie astroturf.

Ben Summers was the star of the show with a second half hat-trick after a 7th minute opener from Joey Dawson but news of Karamoko coming through 90 minutes will be of most interest to supporters’ keen on the progress of the England youth international.
