Leigh Griffiths’ career is in limbo tonight with Dundee announcing that he has left the club.

Celtic haven’t made any comment on the player that signed a 12 month contract at the start of July but there have been various reports that the deal had a break clause.

Griffiths was sent home from Celtic’s pre-season training camp in Wales but appeared as a substitute in a pre-season friendly against West Ham with fans inside the ground divided over his appearance.

At the end of August he joined Dundee on loan but it seems that even the backing of former Livingston and Hibs team-mate James McPake has failed to get the strikers career back on track.

Last night’s 0-0 draw at home to Dundee United leaves Dundee at the bottom of the Premiership. With Jason Cummings quitting the club last month for Australia McPake turned to Partick Thistle striker Zak Rudden in a bid to find the goals to secure their top flight future.
