Leigh Griffiths is set to join Falkirk with the target of scoring the goals to secure a play-off place for next season’s Championship.

Celtic gave the striker a 12 month contract on July 1 but that appears to have been terminated although there has been no official comment from the club.

Griffiths joined Dundee on loan at the end of August but despite the support of his former team-mate James McPake he only managed two Premiership goals, both against Aberdeen.

Talks had been going on about staying with Dundee until the end of the season but Sky Sports are reporting that the former Scotland striker will sign tomorrow for Falkirk.

Former Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is set to join Falkirk on a deal until the end of the season.  The 31-year-old is now a free agent after his loan at Dundee – where he made 17 appearances and scored three goals – came to an end last week.

Falkirk have moved quick to sign the Scotland international, with manager Martin Rennie aiming to guide the club into the Championship.

Falkirk are sitting in sixth place in League One, a massive 21 points behind leaders Cove Rangers but just two behind Queens Park in the third play-off place.

Airdrie and Montrose look to be in a strong position for a play-off spot with Falkirk having 13 matches left to push for the final spot.

Tomorrow they are away to Alloa followed on Saturday by a trip to leaders Cove.
