Eight years ago Josip Juranovic was a floppy haired teenager, looking on with awe at this World Cup heroes.Â
Back in 2014 Croatia finished second in their qualifying group to Belgium then beat Iceland to earn their place in the finals held in Brazil.Â
The teenage Juranovic looked overwhelmed as he posed with national heroes while trying to make the breakthrough at NK Dubrava.Â
Now via Poland and Scotland the 26-year-old is on coarse to play in Qatar and appears to have an increasingly important role in the national side.Â
It seems that over the last two years Juranovic’s career has really taken off. Most Croatia players with potential have left their homeland before the age of 24 but the Celtic defender seems to be a late developer.Â
Before the World Cup Finals come around in June he could also be a Champion League player, helping Celtic to a win at Ibrox on Sunday would go a long way towards realising that goal.Â
