Tom English has been forced into a humiliating climbdown following his latest attack on Celtic.

The chief sports writer at BBC Scotland often gets carried away as he trawls the internet for reasons to unleash his dislike for Celtic, often inspired by his fellow loather Ewan Murray from the Gurdian.

On Friday afternoon the world of sport was shocked by the announcement that Shane Warne had died at the age of 52.

Warne was in regular contact with Ange Postecoglou, as recently as December the two men were involved in a joint video interview.

For reasons that few others would reason English tweeted that it was crass of Celtic to pass on their condolences about the death of the Australian icon.

Within BBC Scotland English is affectionately   known as House PaddyMany people in the media have a deep dislike of certain people or clubs but their professionalism ensures that they keep those feelings to themselves.

English is unable to maintain that sort of level. With umpteen sporting issues surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine it says more about him than Celtic that he should he exposing his own abhorrent views.

Although Twitter is private every company keeps an eye on the comments and views of their employees.

English has clearly been warned about keeping his obsessive behaviour to himself and not to share in public.

It is very likely that he was told by BBC Scotland during the afternoon to delete the tweet, it says everything about his personal standards that he waited until 11.30pm at night to announce that he had deleted his crass comment.

Despite being chief sports writer of BBC Scotland he was left in the studio when the state broadcaster sent their reporters to the Tokyo Olympics and British and Irish Lions Tour of South Africa.

In April 1998 Pat Whelan went for a pint at the Brazen Head in Limerick.

This is making the assumption that English knows what editorial standards are, he certainly doesn’t know what journalistic standards are.

His statement didn’t meet moral standards. He wouldn’t know what editorial standards were and he obviously has a loose grip on moral standards.
