Barry Ferguson has tipped Aaron Ramsey and Allan McGregor to play lead roles in taking the SPFL title to Ibrox.

Alloa recently binned the former Clyde and Kelty Hearts boss.

McGregor has been coming under fire for a serious of howlers since the turn of the year with both Motherwell goals blamed on the leg end that is Greegsy.

While the keeper has been undermining his team-mates Rambo Ramsey has missed the last four matches with no timescale for when he might start the second match of his Ibrox loan deal.

Ferguson will always have his glass half full for issues at Ibrox, telling the Daily Record:

Don’t rule out Aaron Ramsey from making an impact over the final weeks of the campaign. Yes, time is running out for a new signing who arrived a month ago and has hardly kicked a ball since. And I know the patience of the fans is wearing thin with him too.

But don’t be fooled into writing him off just yet either and spare me this theory that his heart is not in it. On the contrary, I suspect the guy has pushed his body to the limits in trying to get ultra-fit and has picked up niggles because of it. I’ve been in that boat myself over the years.

If he’s still not contributing in two or three weeks from now then yes, it will begin to look like an expensive mistake. But this is the point in a season when the biggest players deliver. Anyone writing off McGregor and Ramsey does so at their peril.

Wales play Austria in a World Cup Play-Off on March 24.
