Now time for Scott Brown’s overdue send off?

It would take all day and be especially painful to list everything that went wrong at Celtic last season.

Thankfully Ange Postecoglou is giving it 100% to dim the memories of last season with a new look team that could hardly be more different to the one that he inherited from Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon.

One of the victims of last season was Scott Brown. More than a captain; a genuine leader, inspiration and indeed a legend. The winner of 10 League titles, 6 Scottish Cups and 6 League Cups. The second captain to lead the club to 9-in-a-row.

Sadly there was no Celtic send off for Broony, his las matches were played out in a vacuum, at his final home match banners around the stadium saluting his achievements were a poor imitation of the adulation that he deserved.

Recognition from the fans is needed to close one chapter in Brown’s life, he may or may not have a future role at the club but with five home matches left to play an appearance from the former captain would be ideal on so many levels.

A final Broony on the pitch, to each of the four stands would go down well with supporters, it would also provide additional inspiration for the current squad.

The vast majority of Ange Postecoglou’s squad only know Broony as an Aberdeen player, the guy that headed in a goal at Ibrox earlier this season.

Watching the reception that the former captain gets back at Celtic Park would be a taster for what lies in store for those that bring success to the club.

I didn’t rate Brown in his last 3-4 seasons.

  • Thomas Daley says:

I am in my 67th year, remember as a child Billy McNeil lifting the Champions cup and being seared into my memories, he will always my nine in a row hero.
Broony is another 9 in a row legend, laughed as he were kicked, punched and assaulted by all and sundry.
What knowledge he has to dispense is priceless for the younger players coming through.
Take him back, we have all to gain and zilch to lose.
