Giovanni van Bronckhorst has given his backing to the Union Bears arranged protests which halted his side’s match at Dundee three times.

Toilet rolls and tennis balls rained down on the pitch as the away fans celebrated their hatred of Catholics in protest at a fund-raising match to be played in Sydney in November.

There were two interruptions early in the match with another soon after the second half got underway.

Picking up on his post-match interview with Sky Sports, The Sun reports van Bronckhorst saying:

I think we had three or four breaks because of the cleaning up. It is disruptive but I know their emotions and they have to show their emotions which is good to see.

You need to have the balance but I do know the emotions of the fans but we all go back with three points.

Those comments indicate the level of control the Ibrox support has over every area of the club. Other than James Bisgrove no-one at the club has made any sort of comment on taking part in the Sydney Super Cup.

A number of recent reports have claimed that the Ibrox club are exploring ways of withdrawing from the competition, with the team manager sympathetic to the protests of the fans it now seems only a matter of timing until Celtic are left to go it alone with Ange’s Homecoming Tour.

Van Bronchiole is an absolute coward or maybe he is just a bigot as well.
He is obviously making sure he stays onside to keep his job as there is no hope of getting a job elsewhere. Nevertheless, it would be better for all if they took their hatred and went. Yokohama should have been invited to take part in this tournament instead of them. Nobody wants tainted by association with this lot.

There’s still time for the Yokohama invite to go out if they do pull out, which we all hope they do.

Ffs this is about spreading the fan base and profile about both clubs bringing money that is seriously needed and it was obviously going to be media orientated. But are we so gullible to believe that the main stream media who delight in controversy (bad news sells papers) are concerned about the good of our game. There are 1000’s of celtic and rangers fans in Australia who would love to see their teams play not just against each other but to sit with their kids and say that’s my team against who ever their kids team are I am a mad celtic fan but I believe in the right for true rangers fans to support their club.

Editor: Anything that connects our club to that toxic mob is to be avoided, unless you have a vested interest in it like Bankier & Co who sold everything out in the Five Way Agreement to keep alive their dream of sharing £££££££££££££££ with their firm old friends and business partners.

If money is seriously needed why not put together a team to beat Midtjylland, Cluj, Ferencvaros, AEK, Malmo, Maribor and other no-marks to reach the group stage of the Champions League? Or is that too much like hard work?

Why would Celtic have to go it alone ? is there not an option to invite another team under the circumstances ? The could perhaps invite a Greek team as there are lots of those guys who emigrated over there. Imagine they invited Hearts to take part after all they saved their team as well. For the record Hearts are just buns as well but that mob would be boakin in there stokin if that happened.

Editor: Being without their firm old friends from Ibrox would make for a very lonely trip for Bankier, Nicholson, Wilson, Allison, Brown and the other dinosaurs in the Celtic boardroom.

My take on this is I hope they pull out because if they don’t there’s going to be trouble. We all know that kid on Rangers and their support can’t go anywhere without causing bother. They wrecked George Square twice and ended up fighting amongst each other, what do you think they’d do in Australia? The talk was there was no segregation of the fans when selling tickets and that would be a disaster just waiting to happen. As far as I’m concerned get them as far away from us as possible as we’d only get tarred with the same brush as them, our supports reputation the world over is one of friendliness and good nature. I don’t want that taking a battering because of the kid on Rangers support who’s reputation is that of chaos and destruction. We don’t need them anywhere near a tournament that’s to celebrate Ange’s achievements at Celtic thus far as it would turn into a complete farce and could end up endangering our Australian supporters. They need the money more than we do but they’re the scum of the earth and how our board are trying to keep them afloat is quite frankly an aberration and a sign that we can’t trust a single one of them. I thought when they backed Ange in the transfer windows we might be seeing them realise that the supporters can make or break a board but it seems no lessons have been learned and they’re still trying to punt this “old firm” brand. We proved when the newco had to start from the bottom league that we could survive and thrive without them and if they do get liquidated again when we win the league then we need to make sure it’s for good this time.
